Thank you to ReadersFirst for the free copy of this book! I haven't read any of Katerina Diamond's work before and was eager to give it a shot as she is so highly praised but this standalone really just didn't do it for me. It was a quick and easy read so I do feel the pacing was set nicely but that is really where my pros end. The entire story just felt a little absurd to me and any allusions to mystery just felt forced and only served to dissipate tension rather than build it. I had no interest in learning the protagonist's secrets because they were so prevalently hinted towards that I got bored. The plotline itself I enjoyed but its delivery fell incredibly flat for me. This was such a real shame to me as I'd heard such good things about Diamond's work and while I will still try her other books, this one was really just a massive disappointment for me.
