the blurb on the back of the book was cliche in the thriller and crime genre way, and i did not really of anything at first it did not captivate me at one bit. the book itself was okay and did show to the dark mystery genre and was proven to be creepy but not suspenseful enough as sylvie returns to the family home in for the first time since her eldest daughters Elodie's death, she is accompanied by her other daughter Emma.
the first part of the book was really slow to read and was trying to find the sense of mystery with the crumbling house holding secrets and the difficult childhood Elodies life was affecting her character.

the author has used this flashback between both the past and present to portray this spiral that affected the characters in certain ways. the book at the second half does lure you in more.
overall this book is okay in terms of reading and would be recommended for people who like books about family dramas
