The Heatwave is an absolutely gripping thriller, very hard to put down, I read it in two sittings. Katerina Diamond is very accomplished at keeping her readers hooked from start to finish. Nothing is as it seems in this brilliantly written book that will have you sure one minute that you've worked out the mystery but the very next minute you realise you're completely wrong. This is the story of Felicity and Jasmine during one summer in Sidmouth when they were teenagers but alternates between the terrible events of the summer and the present day and the long-lasting effects of the trauma. During that summer a young girl known to Felicity and Jasmine disappears but the mystery has never been solved. All these years later another young girl goes missing and Felicity realises she has to return to Sidmouth and finally face her demons having never told anyone all she knew about the events of the first disappearance. The Heatwave is definitely going to appeal to all readers of mysteries and thrillers.
