Local-to-me author, local-to-me setting. The idea of a thriller set in sleepy Sidmouth overrode the fact that I’m not the greatest fan of psychological thrillers, so I was maybe a little rash in wanting to read this.

Troubled mum and wife Felicity rushes back to her hometown when she hears a(nother) girl has gone missing. Quite why she believes she’s the only one who can solve the mystery does become clear - at the very end.

My main problem was that I didn’t *believe* in the characters, and by the time we reached an explanation for some their strange behaviours (which we generally did), I just didn’t care. Having said that, the last quarter of the book really picked up the pace and kept taking unexpected turns - there were so many things I didn’t see coming!
