I have recently become somewhat of a fan of these styles of books and so did not hesitate to read The Heatwave. The story follows Flick, a woman who left her childhood home after a girl of her age went missing and finds herself returning home in the hope to find another girl now missing. The story moves from present day in Flicks perspective, to 16 years past from her best friend Jasmine's perspective...!
The book is very well written, and while the writing style is a huge giveaway for one of the many plot twists, you just could not predict what would happen. I found myself struggling to put the book down, desperate to know what happened next.
The reason it is not a 5 star is firstly because I did not feel the book got much closure. Secondly, the title just didn't really feel like much to do with the overall book at all. A catchy title to draw you in, but that is all really.
