The Heatwave was a book that caught my interest right from the start when you find out a girl has gone missing from the home town of the main character. The story telling is fast-paced and it keeps your attention well throughout with some excellent descriptions that really make you feel as if you are there. There are a number of twists and turns throughout the book, some of which were guessable, but most completely took me by surprise - particularly the final reveal, which I would never have seen coming! The storytelling switches between past and present day which allows you to feel as if you are reading two separate stories which ultimately collide in a nail-biting finale. This is the first book I've read by this author but I will definitely be looking up the rest of her work as I really enjoyed it.
