There is no question that this book is chilling and has a definite foreboding atmosphere from the very start. We have an unreliable narrator with an imagination that sometimes runs away from her and an atmospheric setting that really adds to the tone of the story. There is a sense of danger about it, there are secrets, and it hooks you from the first page.
