I quite liked this start to the book, where Nell and Chris, and tween Maude come to stay in Elder House before attending a family wedding.
Nell is unsettled by the house, feeling it is waiting, expectant and the smell of rotting vegetables is bothering her.
It doesn't appear to be a fast read, and the pace is slow and plodding but it could end up being a good story.
