I really like the cover of this book. No idea what it is about it but it makes me want to read it. As for the opening few pages, it has left me intrigued but not overly excited.
The first couple of pages of this book gives us a snippet of what is to come, and a very clear indication that things are going to get sinister. What that is going to look like is implied but not expanded upon so there is a lot to find out.
Then we cut to the start of the holiday as the family arrive at this house and we revert to family drama mode, moody teens and anxious step mother. Not much is given away in these early pages. This book could be great or it could be dull. It's hard to say. The writing style is fine, descriptions places the scene but not overly beautiful to read. The author has done a good job of trying to create an atmosphere. All in all not much is given away so this book could go either way.
