An engaging and interesting horror story!
Amanda Mason`s The Hiding Place is a wee bit slow but also keeps the reader engaged. It covers well the complex and difficult relationships between the mother and daughter and balances nicely the painful struggles of accepting the ghosts from the past and those from the present. The characters of the story, Nell, her husband Chris and her stepdaughter rent a place in the town. They end up getting themselves stuck in a place filled with secrets and in the middle of something that has been haunting the place. They find various things and marks that confirm the presence of something supernatural. These events also start building a distance between the mother and stepdaughter. The stepdaughter with the help of two other local girls starts getting involved and obsessed with finding answers to the events in the house.
