An Atmospheric tale.
I really wanted to read this book because of the cover - it’s spooky and already indicates at the atmosphere of the novel.
It is a very spooky story, drawing on some of gothic tropes, and it really drew me into the story. It was definitely one to read in the dark with a hot drink to really feel the paranormal spooks!
I enjoyed the characterisation, and with the story focusing on the mother-daughter relationship, I felt we really got to know the (although I didn’t really like them, but I feel that may be intention behalf of the author).
I don’t want to give anything away but I enjoyed the twists and turns that we encounter, clearing up some of the questions we might normally have.
I would recommend this book, although perhaps not to hardened horror readers, but it is still spooky enough to be on a Halloween tbr list.
You will struggle to put it down!
