I enjoyed this so much, dark, brooding and downright spooky for this time of year, such a perfect read.
Nell and her husband along with his daughter Maude all go for a break to a holiday cottage let near the sea.
Meanwhile attending the anniversary part of relatives of Nell’s.
But from the very first Nell is unsettled by the seemingly idyllic looking cottage.
There are weird carving up in the attics ceiling, strange things hidden within its walls.
The house changes and affects them all in different ways.
Maude and Nell don’t get on but Chris has left them alone to sort out a problem at work.
With tensions already high the supernatural goings on are about to tip them over the edge.
Something wants to be known and heard but what?
Why is Maude central and most susceptible to all this?
A brilliantly crafted modern gothic novel with subtle and deeply chilling hints of the supernatural.
A brilliant read.
