This book started out with so much promise. The prologue really gripped me and my first impressions of this book were that it was going to have me hooked throughout. Who was this lady? How had she come to be lay in a pool of blood? Is the blood hers? Lots of questions from the get go.

Once the story got into swing, I felt it lost a lot of momentum. I didn't connect with the characters as much as I would have liked to. I loved the setting, the gothic, eerie feeling of the house and I love books where people return to their home town to face demons after being away for a while.

I just didn't feel this book executed the story side of things as well as I've read by other authors. I think the ending became a little confusing and I had to re-read certain parts of it a few times! Maybe that is just me though!
Overall, I think if you're into gothic novels, it is definitely worth checking out!
