I haven't read many horror-esque books, but I do enjoy a bit of spookiness if the mood takes me.

First of all, that cover is stunning. It looks almost inviting, with its little symbols and drawings, which I assume will relate to the story inside. It kind of puts the reader on the backfoot and I like that idea.

The prologue and first couple of chapters keep the reader hooked and sets up the eerie setting. I think I would really get on with the writing style. Descriptive, but not too descriptive, you know? There is also a small town community atmosphere creating a sense of unease.

This seems like a great autumnal / wintery read under a blanket with a candle going. I am very interested in reading this book and others by this author.

Thank you to Reader’s First, the author and publisher in allowing me to read a 'First Look' in return for a review of this book.
