Mixed feelings about this one
Firstly the cover is really eye catching and creepy looking. It is marketed as a horror story and I didn’t think that this gave a true reflection of the story , yes it was creepy in parts but wouldn’t say it was scary as you would expect horror to be. I thought the first half of the book dragged and although you got to know the characters , I did wonder where it was going. It stars to pick up in the second half and starts to get interesting. The story centres around a house that appears to be haunted. There are sinister things happening to the family that are staying there and gradually they get worse as time goes on . It is also a story about relationships especially mothers and daughters which comes through quite well. I enjoyed the build up and the tension ,and was quite intrigued to find out that storing and hiding things in old houses is a real thing. All in all though for me a mediocre read.
