Not what I thought

This book wasn’t exactly what I was hoping for. The synopsis was originally promising, but I didn’t connect with the book as I thought I would.

The book centred around Nell, who after nearly a decade away, returns to her family home and goes on a holiday to a decrepit old house that she and Maud begin to look into the local folklore and legend surrounding the house.

It began promising, with its spooky descriptions and build up of tension, however the plot of the story seems to drag substantially. Then, when we finally get to the end, it is without much fanfare or time for the reader to reflect on the story and how it all resolved.

I have to be honestly, some parts I did skim through, as I felt like it was dragging on far too much and I wanted to get to the end, however, I wasn’t impressed with it.
