Thank you readers first for a chance to read this before publication.

Firstly let’s start with the look of this book; the dust jacket is absolutely gorgeous, it’s very striking and would definitely get my attention in a book shop.

Now for the story. Maude’s been involved in some troubling events back home so her Dad and step mum whisk her away to a cottage in the small town Nell, her step mum grew up in. Nell is uncomfortable in her new surroundings shortly after arriving and Maude, already angry and unhappy with life and her Dad finds herself drawn into something within the walls. As the house reveals its secrets we learn that both female characters and also some of the characters on the outskirts of this story have secrets of their own.

This atmospheric read is perfect for Halloween month, though it does lean towards a young adult fiction book, as a lot of the story is centred around Maude.

All in all a very enjoyable book.
