Witchcraft and human sacrifice for your own ends are not my usual kinds of reads. But I found this captivating.
It really built a sinister and scary atmosphere the way the author wrote this book.
I loved Maude. She reminds me of me when I was younger. But how complicated was her family. It made me sad that she felt replaced by her younger brother. And how her mother did not seem to care.
However I doubt that was true when you saw the way she spoke about her Dad and Nell. Who clearly loved her and she was carelessly mean because of how they got together.
An interesting and scary read.
I would love to read more from this author and see if they only write scary witchy stories or if they have more themes up there sleeve. The writing style was right up my street. Loved it a lot
