The story of Alex's free climb has recently had a great deal of publicity as there is also a film about it. As such, the "will he, wont he" tension does not exist and so I was not really expecting to get anything from this book. However, surprisingly, there is still tension written into this book, which shows how skilled the author, Mark Synnott, is. He explains aspects of climbing to the non-climbing reader in a very clear , but unpatronizing, way and I enjoyed what I read of this book - when I didn't expect to!
