How on earth did he do this and not die?!

We have a printed canvas of El Capitan above the TV in our living room from a road trip years ago. I remember at the time gazing up at this sheer rock wall for ages, then realising that I could just make out a tiny dot of orange which was a climber. Then someone told me you couldn’t climb it in one go, you had to sleep suspended from the rock face - what?! My reaction is the same to finding out someone climbed it with NO ROPES. How???? And what kind of a person is he? Not a usual one that’s for sure...I am fascinated by those who are driven to accomplish terrifying feats that most of us would never consider, let alone actually make happen. This true story sounds like it’ll have some heart-in-mouth moments!
