I was excited to read this first look, but it didn't grab me straightaway. From the book cover the implication is that this was meant to be about Alex Honnold's free climb up El Capitan, but so far I've learnt more about the author's childhood than anything else. Maybe he is just providing some background to provide an insight into what makes free climbers do what they do, but I'd need to read more before I could really decide what I think about this book. It is definitely a book that I would pick up and look at though.
