Having watched the National Geographic documentary, Free Solo, chronicalling Alex's Free Solo of El Capitan, I am left with lots more questions unanswered about what drives someone to risk their life to fulfil their dream. As a non-climber, the very idea of attempting this seems absurd, along with the very self-centeeed approach that one must have to expose themselves to such risk, and I would love to be able to read about what someone else who shares that adventurer passion thinks about it. Does Mark Synnott share in my disbelief or can he the convey and offer explanation that will make me understand Alex's logic?

The cover of the book highlights the exposure of the climb and goes some way to help the reader understand the enormity of Alex's achievement of free soloing this vast, glass-like surface.
