This book was a bit of a letdown for me. I was intrigued by it after hearing about the incredible feats of Alex Honnold, having watched the trailers for the documentary Free Solo. That got me interested in the world of climbing and what Alex does - climbing extreme routes with no safety equipment. I think that perhaps this book could have been a bit better and/or a bit more gripping had it focused more on Alex, but I found that there was too much of the author's own input. While interesting and relevant, I chose the book to read about Alex Hunnold and his free climb of El Capitan more than anything else. There was also a lot of intense climbing detail that made the book less accessible to a wider audience of non-climbers, which detracted from my enjoyment a bit. While I love to learn, it made it feel too dense for me.
