This is a book full of climbing anecdotes. A who's who of the worldwide climbing fraternity and some of the most challenging peaks around the world.
Very interesting stuff if this is your sport but as someone who knows pretty much nothing about climbing it did feel a little technical in places.
From the cover blurb/title I was expecting the majority of the book to relate to the free solo attempt of Alex Honnold on El Capitan. You only have to look at the cover to realise that this is an extraordinarily difficult climb and the idea of doing it without any aid/ropes at all seems, well, impossible.
In the event though "The Impossible Climb" is pretty much shoe-horned within the last few pages and all seems a little anti-climatic.
I'm not convinced that, by the last page, I had really got under the skin of any of these incredible athletes. What they do is beyond the physical realms of most of us but I felt less "wowed" than I should have been.
Perhaps one for readers with more of a technical interest in the sport....
