The Last Hour by Harry Sidebottom is a historical fiction based in the Roman period. The story explores the empire and the Eternal City. The beginning of the book is hard to follow and lead me to being very put off and struggling to read on. As a stand alone novel, I expected to be more immediately drawn in but the setting of the scene and explanation was very long worded.

The plan is to assinate the empower but there are many things to contend with. People try to warn him and the local law enforcement try to prevent him.

The author does a good job but the book is not my typical choice of a rea sand hasn’t inspired me to pick up more history. Although the book does show some very clear historical knowledge which I greatly appreciated.
With a little bit of background knowledge it’s a very enjoyable story once you push past the start
