I feel as though I have encountered countless books on the devastation and heartache that was living in a concentration camp during the Second World War. But this book focuses more on the escape of such a camp and the difficulties that are often overlooked in the previous novels I have read. Even better yet, is that the author is the niece of one of the nine women who escaped, immediately making Helene's story feel more real.
