I was truly awestruck and inspired reading this extract. The bravery of the women, the determination to overcome the horrors they had been through and the sheer iron will to keep going was absolutely mind-blowing. I was humbled reading this story in a comfy, warm bed feeling overcome with gratuity for everything I had. Helene and her friends are a true inspiration to us all to face adversity and strive to win. I could totally understand why it was hard for her to tell her story but I also could see her niece's point to always keep the experiences of those who have gone through such horrible things in our minds to remind us of the horrors humanity can bring upon one another and how we must collectively make sure they never happen again. What a beautiful, heart aching memoir.
