This book is such an interesting read. It tells the story of nine women, members of the French Resistance who were captured by the Nazis and sent to Ravensbruck. Sent on the Death March, the women ultimately escape.

Written by the great-niece of one of the women, it is clearly a well researched book and, given the subject matter, not an easy read. It also covers quite a lot, helping us to really get to know the women - the author tells us about the women prior to the war and also their lives post-war and their struggles with survivors' guilt. With so much to cover, the book does jump around a bit which at times I found a little frustrating, but that does not detract from the fact that the book covers a fascinating aspect of WW2 that I did not know much about. The women's courage is remarkable, as is their friendship in supporting each other in the face of such difficult circumstances and one cannot fail to be moved by that.
