The nine is about 9 women, hélène, Zaza, Nicole, Lon, Guigui, Zinka, josé, Jacky and Mena, who became very close friends when they were arrested and sent to concentration camps. They tried to keep each others spirits up even when they were starving or being beaten. When the war turned thousands of women from the concentration camp were led on a death march, during this march these nine courageous women decided that they were not going to give up and they were determined to survive. The nine escaped the death march together and started there harrowing journey to make it to the front line and get back home. They faced many struggles and obstacles along the way but they were there for each other no matter what. During these very hard times these nine women would not leave each other behind no matter what. I did struggle to get into this book as it does seem to jump around a little bit, but i really enjoyed it and it opens your eyes to what people had to go through in those times.
