This book was really heartfelt and motivational. Even though I don't frequently read non-fiction, I'm so pleased I did.
The book is extraordinarily thoroughly researched and wonderfully written. I truly felt as though I gained an understanding of these women's lives, and I am so happy that their stories are being told.
There were a few parts of the book that I found a little difficult to read because of the anguish these nine ladies went through, but I told myself that it was nothing compared to what they truly went through.
While this required a lot of flipping, the book alternates between before the ladies were imprisoned and the breakout to convey each of the women's tales it was easy to follow and helped to build anticipation for what was happening during the escape.
This tale serves as a tribute to all women's tales, not simply those of The Nine. Their opinions count. Their knowledge is priceless.
Instead of marginalising and burying the tales of women in a language that is dominated by males, history it should reflect and celebrate the experiences of women.
They had the resiliency, tenacity, and feminine camaraderie that could see them through any obstacle that came their way. How wonderful this book is.
