Before reading this book I thought it was going to be a story sort of book but it’s more a biography of each of the nine women with a slight story to meagre them together, I agree with the author that a woman’s side of World War Two has never really been told especially from a political prisoners side, I found so much of this book fascinating and aspirational what those nine (and many more) women went through it truly heartbreaking. There strength as a team is really remarkable ever though a few of them were not in great shape or even I’ll at the time they never gave up on each other and saw each other through quite a few difficult situations (would they have survived without each other??). So happy at the end to read they all survived although a few of them had it quite difficult afterwards ( which you can understand why) these stories need to be told so future generations know and understand what they went through
