Gwen Strauss's book The Nine is a must read! I had previously read Heather Morris's The Tattooist of Auschwitz, Cilka Journey and Antonio Itrube's The Librarian of Auschwitz. Therefore, I was intrigued to read the Nine as it focuses on women and their story. So the nine tells the true story of nine women and their experiences with the resistance during word war two. I like reading about women's experiences as the majority of world war two stories tend to surround men and be from their point of view. The story follows Helene, Gwen's great aunt and 8 other women who escaped from death marches.
I liked the structure of the book as each chapter focuses on each on the women giving their back story, how they were captured and what happened to them. This shows that each woman's story is important and needs to be known therefore, I think that more people should read this book!
