I read many books of this exact genre every year. I still feel that there is great value in publishing these stories and reminding people of our history. This is one of these books, based on real stories of nine women who ended up in concentration camps due to their work for various resistance groups. Whilst there have been quite a few recent books focusing on female resistance during the war, I think that there is still a great deal more that can be told about the heroines of our past.
Prior to reading this book, I was not familiar with any of these women and their stories. I note that the author is actually related to one of the main characters, and she has really taken great care to research the events carefully and tried to get as much information from the other women in the group's families. We therefore get a balanced account of the events, told from multiple points of view and also external sources.
