Sent to work in a forced labour camp nine women become friends, together they face sickness, near starvation, freezing weather and hard physical labour. Around them they see others sent to their death and between them, they become determine to survive. Sent on a march which may well of led them to their deaths, they spot an opportunity and take it, escaping from their German captors. Then starts a long journey to freedom which at times they don't think they will be able to complete.
This book although harrowing in places is a story of courage in the face of adversary but above anything else it is a story of working together and true friendship no matter what happens. I really enjoyed reading this.
