Such an important story that must never be forgotten. Each and every time i read a book from the war, Auschwitz and all the terror and inhumanity that occurred during that time it still hits like it is the first time I am reading such horrors.

The author (Gwen Strauss) has done an admiral job of telling the story of nine courageous french and Dutch resistance members who were able to escape the death March they was a part of out of Leipzig concentration camp.

Although in parts it was a little confusing who was who, and what their story was but that wasn’t such an issue as the book went on.

It tells the story of their grit and determination to survive. I think it could have been improved with a bit more telling of the generational trauma and how the resistance has impacted on the generations that have came since, but there was none which was disappointing.
