I was surprised to find that this gripped me from the start as not the type of book I would normally read. It is set in 16th century London and the characters are well written and interesting -it is an insight into the hard life of a doctor and his patients. There is a mystery involved as the doctors father has been murdered whilst working abroad so there is intrigue aplenty too. A fascinating read.
