Intriguing despite not being my usual genre

Firstly, I love the cover of this book! It makes me want to see what the book is about. The book is very fast-paced in the first chapter, bringing with it questions that I would want to read to find the answer too. It is intelligently written. Unfortunately, this is the third instalment in a series, so I will be putting the first on my TBR and will read that before buying this one, as I'm still slightly unsure whether this genre is my cup of tea.
