To be entirely honest, this could have been either one of the first two books in the series. Which is either a good or a bad thing depending on how much you enjoyed the previous offerings. Although I usually really enjoy historical fiction set during this time period I can't seem to take to this particular series at all and I can't put my finger on why that is.
Suffice to say, if you enjoyed either of the first books (or both) then this is for you. If, like me, you have struggled with the first book (I think it is 3 abandoned attempts to date) then probably best to leave it on the shelf.
