Nicholas Shelby is a Doctor in Elizabethan London who is sent to Marrakech by Robert Cecil to study new medical practices but he’s actually there looking for an informer gone missing as there’s been a murder back in London. His fiancee Bianca is caught up in the plague and undercover plots and must agree to a murder scheme of Robert Cecil if she wants to save her own life.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve since found out it’s part of a series so I will be looking out for those too. It’s set in 1593, in London and Marrakech, not a period I’ve read before which made it even more fascinating for me. With spies, murder, the plague and plots and schemes there’s plenty to keep the author interested.
