I was thrilled to receive my reading copy of The Saracens mark . The previous book in the series was very good so I knew I was in for a treat here . I was not disappointed ! I have just spent two whole days immersed in the world of the Elizabethan period . S W Perry has done his research well . I truly felt as though I was in a time long past .
The superstitions and culture of 1593 is as foreign to us now as the life of the Moors was to Christians at that time . Mix this clash of religions and way of life and you have trouble brewing .
Nicholas Shelby , physician and sometimes spy for Robert Cecil is more openminded than most . He is the perfect man to be sent to Marrakech in search of a missing spy .
I particularly enjoyed the way the story swings between plague ridden London , following the story of his friend Bianca and then back to Marrakech where Nicholas is meeting so much which is foreign to him while having to keep his wits about him .
This is the author's best book so far and I am looking forward to his next !
