Did enjoy this a great deal. There are some interesting word pictures of how the country (or perhaps just London,as normal!) was in the 1580’s
It did give me a real insite into life then. It also seemed rather topical with Coronavirus attacking us now and something very similar attacking these folks then. People were retreating from the virus and trying to get away from the area. We don’t seem to be at this stage yet but it made me wonder if we may get to this.
The pharmacist was very interesting as well. She made up some medication which she had no idea would work and people clambered for it. Let’s hope we’re not all clutching at straws in the months to come!
I struggled with some of the old time words and when I started the book I looked them up to see what they meant! However I got fed up with that and just had a guess in the end!
