I really enjoyed this book. Having not read the previous 2 books in the series I wasn't sure if I would find the story confusing. However, the author has written the book in such a way that it also works as a stand alone book.
It has been written in an 'old-fashioned' way, with what I imagine is the lingo of the 1590's. This was difficult to get into at first, but it worked well with the plot and really immersed you in Elizabethan London.
This is definitely a story for anyone interested in the late Tudor era or London during the plague.
The characters were written well and I really enjoyed the interactions between Nicholas and Bianca. It was also interesting to learn a little about medicines and remedies of the 16th century. Would definitely recommend this book.
