The scene is set in London in 1593, five years after the Armada. In Bankside Nicholas Shelby and his faithful companion Bianca Merton are ambling along quite happily with their lives when they find there is a plot afoot.
Nicholas is once again recruited by the Queen's spymaster on a mission that takes him many miles away across the sea to the back alleys of Marrakech to discover the truth of the situation.
But while Nicholas is busy with this task the plague once more returns to London and threatens those close to him.
This is another book in this historical crime series that has an excellent plot and is truly engaging.
