Attica, an English spy who has a sense of honor and a pirate cohort. It's a quick paced adventure with challenges to stereotype.

Set in the period of the French revolutions, Attica is involved with helping people to support the emancipation of the slaves. This drawing on a personal vein since her mother died as a slave.

Skipping between revolutionary France and England, various historic characters appear. Most notably the architect of revolution Robespierre. The plot also seems to indicate that Attica and her Pirate chum Jemmy are in fact, the Scarlet Pimpernel, a fictional character who rescues posh folk and pretends to be a posh fop in his daily life, saying things like "odds fish".

There is lots of action, the blood is loosened quickly with Attica's blade, it's good that a female character takes control of the plot in such a way, representing the behaviours normally represented by male characters is a breath of fresh air. I like her old pea selling pal, who she obscurely tells some of her secrets to. Jemmy the pirate is good, but his attractiveness to females was overstated and began to grate, could have added a bit more to his character to add a little intrigue, an enjoyment of poetry recitals, latest fashions, mathematics.
