The story starts with a female spy rescuing a french aristocrat locked up for her husbands stance on anti-slavery. They are helped to escape by a pirate. The relationship between the spy and the pirate makes me want to carry on reading to find out what happens. The serial killer aspect has me excited to read more. The first few chapters are well written and a good introduction to the characters making me want to carry on reading.
