I wish I could be more positive about this, because it's a neglected period in history in fiction, yet something just isn't clicking for me with this.
The cover really put me off for starters - there's far too much going on and the top and bottom images look like they've been mashed together from two separate books.
The first impression just didn't make an impression on me and the plot really doesn't feel fresh or different enough to be reading another book that uses the usual devices/plotlines.....
