I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in the series, ‘The Bastille spy’ and this looks as if it will be every bit as enjoyable. The Scarlet Pimpernel is now a woman, one with an interesting history and an engaging co-conspirator. The Bastille has fallen but The Terror has not yet begun. However the book starts in Lisbon with the rescue of the wife of an anti-slavery campaigner. In some ways there is almost too much going on. But I certainly want to read the rest. Historically well researched and a ripping good yarn as well!
