The cover really attracted me to read the book, showing an ancient scroll and picture of the French Revolution. I was curious as to why “Scarlet” while “code” could mean a mission, quest or laws a team abide by. I liked the first two chapters talking about Attica Morgan, am English spy, saving a hostage together with her pirate friend, Jemmy Avery. However, the subsequent chapters were challenging for me as I did not understand their mission and the dangers they were facing. Furthermore , with minimal knowledge of the French Revolution, I could not easily decipher what each character aims to protect or their motives. I feel that maybe it’s good to have knowledge about it and avoid being lost like me when reading. With that being said, it was an interesting read but a bit difficult for me to grasp the storyline.
