Attica Morgan returns in The Scarlet Code which is the sequel to the The Bastille Spy from the pen of C S Quinn
In The Scarlet Code it is 1789 and France is falling and English Spy Morgan is helping nobles to escape but whilst trying to identify a killer she ends up putting herself in danger.
I enjoyed the first book of this historical fiction series and had high hopes for this follow up especially as the main characters were clearly defined but with room to grow.
Unfortunately, I felt that this book did not build on the promise of the earlier book and whilst it was an ok read I ultimately felt slightly let down.
You can very easily read The Scarlet Code as a stand-alone if you haven’t read the first book as sufficient of the backstory is included.
