Even pirates fall in love

I loved the first book in this series, but felt the sequel didn't live up to the high paced plot of the first one. The main thing i liked about the hero Attica Morgan from book one is that she wasn't the cliche fall in love with the dashing pirate type, she was the action star in her own right. But in book 2 she has gotten all doe eyed over her superior the spymaster Atherton and we spend a good chunk of the book talking about whether she will marry him or not, and then throughout the book she seems to also now be showing more feelings towards Jemmy the pirate as he gets jealous of her feelings towards Atherton, so the cliche love triangle starts to take place and distracted from the adventure for me.
The bits with the French lawyer Robespierre were much more entertaining as we try and work out what he is plotting in his subdued sneaky manner, and this keeps me interested in reading further adventures in this time period. Hopefully with more action from Attica and less romantic side journeys, get back to the action star we were introduced to in the first book.
